Trainee Accountant (Apprentice) – AAT

Job Description:

We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated and hardworking individual. This role gives the successful candidate an exciting opportunity to begin a career in accountancy. As a general chartered accountancy practice, the role will give the candidate exposure to a wide range of industries and client types, making it the perfect platform to build a career in finance.

A candidate who progresses well within the role will have the opportunity to expand their exposure to more complex larger clients and have some exposure to audit engagements. Continued career progression is supported with a view for further study towards the ACA or ACCA qualification after completion of the AAT.

Internally, you’ll be supported by a coach who will act as your mentor, partners and senior staff.

37.5 hours per week

Requirements:

  • A minimum of Level 5 (B grade using the old system) in GSCE Maths and English Language, or equivalent
  • Excellent communication skills and works well in a team environment
  • Strong problem-solving skills and willing to have a go at new challenges
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills
  • Positive attitude to learning and personal development
  • Open and willing to discuss personal progression

A normal day would include:

  • Preparation of annual accounts from client books & records for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies
  • Using of Microsoft Office suite and Cloud based accounts file software (MyWorkpapers)
  • Preparation of the corporation tax returns
  • Preparation of VAT returns
  • Preparation of management accounts
  • Communicating and liaising with clients via phone/email
  • Assistance with other general office duties
  • All work is reviewed by the Manager/ Partner

Semi Senior Accountant

Job Description:

We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated and hardworking individual, with a minimum of 2 years’ experience within a small to medium sized practice. The day to day role will have a focus on all aspects of company accounts preparation. There will be opportunity for growth and to work on some of our larger clients, as well as the opportunity to gain audit exposure.

Experience/Skills required:

  • Studying towards ACA/ACCA qualification or fully qualified
  • 2 years or more practice experience in accounts preparation
  • Accounts preparation experience for limited companies, partnerships, and sole traders
  • Strong Microsoft suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) skills
  • Good cloud accounting knowledge (preferably Xero) and advisory experience focused on small businesses would be a plus.
  • Some audit experience would be a plus, but not essential
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills

Responsibilities:

  • Preparing and submitting statutory accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies
  • Preparing corporation tax returns
  • Preparing, reviewing and submitting VAT Returns
  • Preparation of weekly, monthly, and quarterly management information
  • Bookkeeping Reviews
  • Work closely with and directly communicate with partners, managers, team members, in addition to client personnel
